Ask the creditor to lower your interest rate. they almost always cooperate with you. if they don’t, contact a credit counseling agency and they will talk to the creditor for you. i got my credit card apr from 19 to 9%. i use http://www.moneymanagement.org
I don’t think you are too likely to get grants to pay-off the loans. However assuming your credit is not horrible, you should be able to get a lower rate on Prosper or a similar peer-to-peer lending site.
